feature by Mahira Majid. Philtres, natural cure or disaster

Feature by: Mahira Majid Ali
Roll no. 2k14/MC/155
Philtres, Perhaps a natural cure or a disaster.

Some people may find the word ‘Philtre’ mysterious and may be unaware of its meaning. Basically, philtre is a magic potion, a tonic supposed to arouse love, affection and desire for a particular person. But, here philtre is not used in that sense, it is not merely meant to be a love arousal drink. Philtres, at this juncture, actually means Desi Tips, you can say Homemade Tips or simply Totkay, which are being used by many of literate, as well as, illiterate populaces in some or other ways.

Formerly, experienced old women of villages, used to share number of philtres (totkas) regarding health issues with their daughters, daughters-in-laws and other friends and felt happy. They gave number of natural philtres (totkas) like using neem leaves for long and strong hairs, a droplet of desi ghee in ear for reducing headache, using fennel or fennel water for indigestion, turmeric was supposed as a natural antibiotic. It was used heavily as a medicinal paste to clean and heal serious wounds. Ginger was considered great for inflammation, so ginger tea during colds, flu, sore throat, even body aches was used and it worked great. In ancient time, rural community relied on these philtres because there were no doctors or other experts to treat them. So, they experimented these philtres. Many of them found these experimentations beneficial in past, many folks are getting advantage from these philtres till now.

However, at the present time, everyone is becoming health advisor and is offering different philtres (totkas) without any practical evidence. Even, when there is no need of these philtres some people are providing them for their publicity and are feeling pleasure. You might have listened about Dadi Amma kay Totkay, Zubaida Aapa kay Totkay, Bilquees Aapa kay Gharelu Desi Totkay, Naheed Aapa kay Gharelu Totkay and so on. Furthermore, loads of books, internet websites and mobile apps are also introduced on this subject.

Today, philtres (totkay) are widely being used in our daily life. Totkay are very popular not only in old ladies of Pakistan but at the present time, fashionable women also try to find out "Gharelu Nuskhe" to enhance their beauty or solve their health problems. They use philtres for their treatments and mostly do not consult a doctor for their health issues. In addition, men also try to find out Homemade Totkay for beauty. Sometimes, people even do not bother to think about their negative effects and are trusting and using them blindly.

Philtres (totkas) are used all over the world to ease life and make things easier to do. People say, Totkay are simple tips that cost us nothing but solve our daily problems easily and effectively. In today’s time and age, philtres have become so common, that medicines have totally taken a back seat.
People do not weigh up the proficiency of the person giving these philtres and after hearing they set off to make the recipe given by some unskilled people and apply them on their face, hair, body and drink or eat these formulations as well. People think that these homemade remedies are cheaper and are providing them the finest and hand-picked results. One should not set on for the cheapest, when it comes to health. As, Jim Rohn says, Take care of your body it is the only place you have to live.

No doubt, these philtres are ready to lend a hand to some extent, congruently, they may prove to be terrible or maltreated. . By applying these mixtures and liquids, suggested by inexpert, we may get good result for a short span of time, but sometimes these potions and mixtures give ridiculous results. One of my kin, is a great victim in maltreatment of these totkas. She likes long hairs and when she heard that by applying onion juice on scalp we can get long hairs, she started to apply it and made her routine to use onion juice without even verifying its outcomes. At last, she faced patchy hair loss. It was proved to be a recipe of disaster for her.

Since Diabetes runs in the family, some people often juice up bitter guard and would have quarter cup juice of it twice a week. They say that, “bitter guard juice is really good and helpful for diabetic patients”.  Another diabetic patient shared her views and said, “I am a diabetic patient and I am always told to try desi Totkay like drinking bitter guard juice etc. I simply hate it and I do not rely on this type of foolish activities and remedies. When we have doctors and clinics we should not do our self-medication”.

Contrary to this some people say, what’s wrong with totkas? Our ancestors survived on these totkas, only that their food was healthy and they practically did their work themselves and led an active life. They had no motorised vehicles and many had to walk distances. In the West, people are now realising that what their ancestors did was better and good, who ate simple non GMO food and did their own work. They are realising that the chemical and manufacturing industries along with doctors are cause of many ailments.

A Plant Pathologist said, “I used all kinds of remedies, but when I grew up I really and honestly hate this kind of treatment, that I would rather die than do these elaborate preparations”.
Self-diagnosis and self-medication has become somewhat of our national habit. Even in cities, where there are a number of private clinics, hospitals and labs, it is not doctors we pay our first visit to when sickness strikes. Occasionally, we push doctors to keep their stethoscopes in their pockets. Sometimes, grandma’s totkay, are enough to fix small problems like the common cold but for other health problems we must consult to specialist. Because when a plants leaves are turning brown you don’t paint the leaves green. You look at the cause of the problem. It is duty of the punter, to mull over the wear and tear of everything they use, to live a better life.

Nature has gifted us many beneficial and applicable stuffs to take pleasure of living. There is no question that Earth has been a giving planet. Everything humans have needed to survive, and thrive, was provided by the natural world around us: food, water, materials for shelter, and even natural cycles such as climate and nutrients. In all the things of nature there is something of the marvellous, but get to grips with all these things depend on us.

As a universal paradox says,You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice.

Your body is a temple, not a trash can. If you will not take care of it, who will?

دعائیہ کتبے سمرہ ناصر

It seems short. we need 600 words. Photo are also required

دعائیہ کتبے
Simra Nasir,

Great food make great lovers. People who love to eat are always the best people and when it comes to Pakistan, there are numerous people who love food as we have several good restaurants here. Pakistani cuisine is a blend of various regional cookery of India. Since before partition, people of subcontinent lived together and enjoyed similar foodstuffs. After partition, Pakistani food became an extension of Indian food, compounded its roots and got eminent identity.

Food is a great source of human survival, no doubt Pakistan is one-step ahead for its spicy and delicious cookery in the world and each city of Pakistan has its unique specialty of food. Hyderabad restaurants not only serve the special dishes of Hyderabad but also many other scrumptious inter-continental foods. For all the food lovers of Hyderabad, Lal Qila is the place for great gratification and delicious food.

The structural design of Lal Qila holds its own uniqueness. People say, its interior and exterior historical mesmerizing look and the beautiful environment make us feel as we are back in time of Mughal era. Its wonderful architecture depicts the legendary grandeur of splendid past. The owner of Lal Qila, Mr. Shoukat, himself is a food lover and he was greatly inspired by the architecture of Lal Qila in New Delhi, India. The reflection of his interest with food and the historical architecture can be seen after having food and enjoying quality time at Lal Qila restaurant, Hyderabad.

The main entrance of Lal Qila restaurant has mighty a huge wooden door welcoming customers with its strong aesthetical essence.  All the way, combination and innovation adorned with courtesy of Mughal era, offering delicious Mughlai Tandoori, their live kitchen barbeque and traditional Pakistani food.

The H.R. Manager, Mr. Zubair Ahmed told about their exotic dishes, relaxing atmosphere and trained staff. He further added, our main head office is in Karachi while other branches are in Lahore, Faisalabad, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and very soon, they are launching Lal Qila in South Africa. Lal Qila endlessly introduces new variety of dishes to the menu that suits guests of all ages. They serve more than 200 to 300 people per day, where they offer different varieties of food. In lunch, they have around 42 dishes and about 92 varieties in dinner, including number of session of several Pakistani, Continental, Chinese, Barbeque, Mughlai, Desert and Salad etc.

Lal Qila Hyderabad is also catering different banquet halls. The most demanded dish of Lal Qila is Biryani, as it is a famous and popular South Asian dish being served around the world. While food like fish, prawn, birds (Batair) etc., are not been ordered very much in Hyderabad.

There is also a beautiful hall, decorated with mirrors called Sheesh Mahal. Families can sit with ease and enjoy the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Further the terrace is an open air area of the restaurant. Mr. Zubair Ahmed told that their chefs are mostly from Pakistan because Pakistani cuisine has its own taste. A recipe has no soul but a chef can bring soul to the recipe, so we hire only the well-trained chefs. Think about the sizzling in a pan, the scent of spices wafting into the air, the textures changing before your eyes. Cooking is like making love, if you're doing it right. Lal Qila is one of the beautiful and captivating places of Hyderabad to visit, to collect beautiful memories and imagining yourself as a royal personality of Mughal period, one must go and feel the heat of true appealing beautiful historical past. People say, if someone wants to enjoy the lip-smacking dishes, he must go to Lal Qila.

Hyderabad Drama Industry

Drama, a composition in verse or prose intended to portray life or character or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical performance, dramas nowadays usually plays on television intend to provide entertainment to the audience and viewers, mostly the ladies are more likely to watch dramas then men. Where we discuss about Pakistani Drama Industry, it can be clearly seen that as much promotions and appreciation Pakistani dramas are getting worldwide nothing is going on peak like that. Pakistani Drama Industry is famous because of its brilliant actors, stories and sequence. Pakistani dramas are mostly based on emotions, love, lesson and tragedies.

In Pakistan, Drama Industry is gaining more popularity day by day because the demand has been increased. But where we talk about the scope of Drama Industry in Hyderabad, so the dark sides can be seen clearly, because Hyderabad is a small city and no production houses are available here, Hyderabad by own do not have any proper production house from where Dramas of good caliber could produce. Some channels of Hyderabad like Mehran T.V, KTN, Sindh T.V and Dharti are still making low budget dramas intend to provide entertainment but because of their low caliber and weak story board people of Hyderabad does not prefer to watch their dramas on daily basis like other Dramas on aired by Geo Entertainment, Hum Sitary, ARY Entertainment,  However Hyderabad has contributed its parts in Drama Industry by providing well known artists from here, like Hyderabad has given many brilliant directors, well skilled writers and well trained actors to the Drama Industry of Pakistan. Many drama productions comes to Hyderabad for shooting here, to use locations and places but where we talk about Hyderabad own Drama Industry all we can see that, backwardness from the field.

In the list of Writers , Abdul Qadir Junejo, Shaukat Hussain Shoro, Mehmood Hussain Mughal, Agha Rafique and Zaid Sindhi are from Hyderabad, who have written many dramas and performed their best role for the Pakistani Drama Industry because the scope in Hyderabad was quite narrow, and in the list of Directors Hyderabad has given well-known personalities like Hameed Halepoto, Haroon Rind, Farooq Rind who also contributed their best part for the success of Pakistani Dramas, and where we talk about actors, Hyderabad has given brilliant actors to the drama industry about whom mostly everyone knows like Yasir Shoro, Aiman khan, Minal Khan, Humayun Zafar and fariha Shams. When there was no such scope of Televisions so people of Hyderabad mostly went to theaters or used to listen Audio Dramas of radio, Stage dramas or Theater dramas at that time was very popular in Hyderabad because there was no other way to get entertainment so people used to turn toward theaters for watching Stage Dramas like, “Moat Ka Dhuan” which held in Dialdas Club in the year 1989 the story was on anti-narcotics, motive of this drama was to aware the public as through drama.

Another Stage Drama was played with the name “Sannata” in the same year at Open Air Theater. Anwar Husain, Mehmood Siddiqui, Shameem Jahan and Tahir Rizvi were the writers of Stage Dramas at that time era of 1960-64. Where the audio dramas of radio on aired long time before these Stage Dramas. In the year 1995 Radio Dramas Started in Hyderabad with the name “Jashn-e-Tamseel”, “Anwar Mian Ke Han” was another radio drama but that was on aired 1980’s. In the starting year of Pakistan these were some resources which people of Pakistan had, people used to listen Radio Dramas regularly and went to theaters for entertainment and their time pass. Binish Saleemi, Muhammad Ali Rizvi, Muzaffar Hussain Josh and Muhammad Umar Muhajir were the writers of Radio Dramas. The Radio Dramas were produced by Abdul Qayoom, Mehmood Siddique, Hassan Kazmi, Ibrahim Shaikh, Sohail Malik and Iliyas Raza. The Voice Artists who worked in Radio Dramas were Haroon, Qamar Anjum, Syed Majid Ali, Razia Naqvi, Umer Daraz and Hassan Zaki Kazmi, by their beautiful voices people get entertained of that time period but gradually the heights of Radio Dramas and Theaters drama also has finished. So today in the year 2016 Hyderabad do not have any proper production house for drama or nor these Radio Dramas and Theater Dramas are working in Hyderabad because they have finished their scope form Hyderabad completely.

Datar
Sometimes you find the most amazing thing in the most unexpected places.  (Anonymous)

Tombs are said to be one of the sacred places where people come in huge crowd. The reasons of arrival of people are different. Many come to see the amazing architecture but many as believers, who believe on saints and their karamat.

The tomb of Shah Jamil Datar Gurnari is near the shrine of Pir Patho at Thatta district. The saint is said to be the descendant of Imam Moosa Kazima. It is said that Shah Jamil was an ironsmith. He originally belonged to Soratha In Gujrat and had migrated to Sindh on the invitation of Pir Patho. He had married the daughter of Sultan Mehmood Ghaznavi, known by the name of Bibi Amnat.

It is said that Datar got fully isolated from the world for forty days on a boat for the worship of Allah (chilla), where he died and people buried him on that boat. The isolation of Datar from the world in the love of Allah is Divine.

Tomb of Datar is constructed on a boat which is surrounded by the water of river Indus. View of a boat with tomb on it is so fascinating. There is a small mosque on the right side of shrine. Entrance door is so huge and the architecture of door enthralled eyes of viewer. Precious chandeliers are hanged with ceiling and fulgent tiles give glaring look. Colorful cloths and threads of votive are tied on a big bamboo. Fragrance of joss sticks (aggerbattis) spread all over the shrine and hit the olfactory sensation as we enter the shrine.

Tourists come from different parts of the world and enjoy the creativity. There is a play ground for children to play on the left side of entrance. Rooms for tourists or believers are constructed on the same road to the shrine.

Like Datar several tombs are enshrine in Thatta. Shrine of Noori, a fisher woman and a love of Jam Tamachi a prince of Samma, is in the middle of Kenjhar lack.

Makli is the biggest necropolis in the world. About 125,000  saints have found their last resting place in Makli. The monuments of Makli also tell the story of external cultural influence in lower Sindh including Hindu, central Asian, Persian cultures. Among the outstanding monuments constructed in Makli are the stone tombs of Jam Nizamuddin II and of Isa khan Tarkhan. The most colorful is that of Diwan Shurfa.

The shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander in Sehwan, gives a dazzling look with its Sindhi Kashi tiles, mirror work and two gold doors. The inner sanctum is about 100 yards square with  silver canopied grave in the middle.

Every year thousands perform pilgrimage to these sides to commemorate the saints buried here.
Places like Datar’s tomb are often underestimated. Media is supposed to count such places in historical ones so that the beauty of Pakistan increases more and more.

Saeedpur College by Zain Shah

Only one pix? that too is not good. Foto of Thebo sb, if u can arrange
Pakistan Saeedpur College

Feature by Zain Hiader Shah
The education is a main asset for a nation it also represents a nation’s prosperity globally. According to the international education survey only 58 percent Pakistani people are literate and also mind it that those who are able to write their names only are enlisted in this survey.  Socrates once said: “The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance” Plato once said: “By education I mean that training in excellence from youth upward”.

Since centuries humans have been committed to knowledge and studies but the sad news is still our nation is lacking it specially Sindh and the remote areas of Laar. This real story about struggle of a person for education which has become so rare to hear in 21st century, will remind you what hard times they had to go through to give and receive education.

Mr. Qazi Muhammad Ibrahim Thebo was an educationist and he was also an employee of Government. He lived his whole life in a small village of Saeedpur in Talhar which is 30 kilometers away from Badin and some 75 kilometers from Hyderabad division. In 1947 he went to Karachi to see how the Pakistan flag rise when the Britain left the subcontinent and on that moment the only idea came in his mind was to build a school. The idea of opening a school was originated by his keen interest in the movement of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. He didn’t know that one day this school will be a remarkable sign of education in Sindh.

The idea was an initial step for the efforts to success. After his arrival to hometown he built a small hut in Saeedpur village where students could come for the purpose of education. He built some other huts for the accommodation of students who come from far villages then he started school in 1952 and at that time the school sectors were under the local government and authority of providing license was also under them.

The District Council Badin after some years started to construct the building for Pakistan High School. Mr. Abu Nisar the commissioner of Hyderabad Division inaugurated it and later this school became the master institute which was known as an institute beyond than par excellence. The sons of rich feudalists and the sons of poor farmers were getting education from this institute with the equal dignity and the fact is that now some of them are retired bureaucrats and others are scholars, Poets and above all every senior student is very literate and fond of knowledge. In the process of my assignment I met the most senior student of this college and while having conversation with him I came to know that in the beginning period the primary focus of school teachers was to grow the moral and ethical values in students and administration of that time was strict. Also, the teaching faculty was completely dedicated to the students.

Mr. Ibrahim Thebo was one man army and his efforts were selfless. He collected funds for the poor students and helped them in getting proper education. From 1950 to 1975 he was the caretaker of school and also his son Mr. Yaqoub Thebo served as an assistant headmaster for two decades.

In 1971 the college came into being. The student union was formed afterwards and the administration was in serious conflicts with the students. They faced some serious clashes which disrupted the peaceful environment of Saeedpur College. Government’s lack of interest in development of school has completely destroyed the study criteria of college. Unfortunately, this institute could not continue with their perfect policies like other old Schools had done. In 2010 the Government wanted to shut down the institute but after all the massive crises,

Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq held a meeting and decided  not to shut down and continue it to give it the same shape as of 1960s’ but the state failed in their decision. They were not even able to restore the boarding. The school was in good shape since it was in the hands of local Government. The look after was easy but now it goes through a long process which takes a lot of time. The teaching faculty has to go through the pro-long procedure of sending application and then wait for the reply of state. It takes a lot of time in releasing funds but since long time the college hasn’t got any answer or funds by administration of Sindh.

In my visit to the college the unsatisfactory feeling aroused in me after I had conversation with the senior lecturer Mr. Shabbir Memon who is serving the College since seven years. According to him the institute is lacking some serious facilitations. There is a major problem of pick and drop for students and teachers since Government hasn’t provided any vehicle. There is no filter water machine so students have to drink the unhygienic water. There were only few materials in laboratory but the library was filled with a lot of variety of books about literature, Pakistan Studies, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and this gave me a sort of satisfaction. Right now 450 students are registered in Pakistan Saeedpur College and also these 450 innocent students are those who haven’t yet got the basic facilities in school.

The High school building was giving the view of complete destruction and without any renovation. The students of the High School Saeedpur are on higher death risk. There were cracks in the building and according to the senior lecturer the government releases only 1 lac in one year and there had been no any development work occurred after 1963. This is a point which makes every visitor and reader to wonder the nation’s bad governance and the drawbacks of bribe in education sectors.

The education of Sindh is in very serious crises that it has failed to maintain the dignity of phenomenal education sectors. The school is going through a very worst condition now and the problems are very severe the poor and old infrastructure of Saeedpur College and High School is a major problem. According to the lecturer of High School about 350 students are registered in this school and among them 300 students come regularly but the school has no boundary wall. The building was built in 1963 and no renovation in infrastructure had happened in 52 years.

The Pakistan College and High School Saeedpur belongs to very rich educational background. It is also situated in very peaceful environment. It is away from the noise of machines, cars and factories, it is away from pollution it can be the best place for students to study if only government look after and solve this major issues of Saeedpur High School and College. State should provide them enough money so poor students can get at least their primary right of education without putting their life on risk. It also can be the example of the only candle in dark night. It can be the central institute for the villagers nearby Saeedpur because of its location.

The College already covers the very vast region of remote village Rajo Khadani and city of Talhar. This is the only Government College of Badin which is providing co-education environment with excellent teaching faculty compared to the other government sectors of Badin. It can only come back in its real shape by getting the possible help from government. I dream to see this master institute in its past shape of excellence in 21st century.

  Street food in Hyderabad

Marcus Tullius Cicer said 'Cultivation to the mind is as necessary as food to the body'. But is the food we eat cultivating our body?

Street food in Hyderabad is considered its true essence. Though the quality of the food sold in streets is not virtuous yet it is eaten very fondly by all middle and higher class people. Basically when one is bored of home cooked meals, they try the food prepared on carts or the barrows under the dimly lit bulbs.

The carts are decorated with the big trays arranged line wise containing chopped tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, beetroots, corns etc. The ingredients are kept in a way that any person other than the workers working for their food cabins, would never like to spoil the presentation arranged beautifully. When the meal is fully cooked it tastes so yummy that one cannot resist but eat it.

From Hussainabad to Latifabad, from Paraitabad to Phuleli, from Heerabad to Qasimabad. Risala road's Shabeer haleem and biryani which is the most selling biryani in the town, Gadi khatta's Kaloo kay pakore, Saddar's Mr. Vaari chaat house and gol gappay. Gidu Chowk's Breeze fish point which is of course very tasty with lots of spices and is more enjoyable when eaten with hot Chappati. Oh and how can we forget Halwa Puri of Tower Market and Chaye (tea) of Khadra Gali! The local crispy samosas and pattees, chola chaat and biryanis, one kebab and egged burgers with a little buttered breads and sandwiches made of boneless chicken and eggs served with red and white sauces and finely cut potatoes with chaat masala sprinkled over are surely mouthwatering but the after effects of eating these meals are harmful for the health. It certainly causes unbearable diseases like ulcer, increase fats, typhoid, cholera, kidney infections, gastro intestinal and many other diseases because the cooks do not make sure of their cleanliness. When only the names sound terrifying then no wonder the diseases itself would be so much horrible. When public was asked that how often they eat out they say 'we eat out at least 4 times in a month out of which our evening snacks are must almost twice in a week.'

Majority of the citizens are totally acquainted with the outcomes of consuming street food and the main reason of causing these diseases is the use of cooking oil which is already used since two to three days. It is estimated that about seventy to eighty percent of people in Hyderabad feast upon street food out of which are the bachelors that live far from their families and are dependent on the cheap eatables. The majority of the chefs say that' We try our best to provide food to our customers as hygienic as possible.' The food rich of fats and the food which contains the ample amount of oil is so delightful and scrumptious that people just cannot help avoiding it but eat it.

Andy Rooney says 'I don't like food that's too carefully arranged; it makes me think that the chef is spending too much time arranging and not enough time cooking. If I wanted a picture I'd buy a painting'. He says true enough. Presentation in serving does matter but when people are out waiting for the food to be cooked and ingest it hurrily and the smell of cooking eatables makes them more impatient, people do not care about the results that they are going to face after eating. The passersby are attracted by the fragrant and the sounds of pop of the food being friend in the hot oil. The solution to these diseases is that people should start making the same eatables in their homes which are more nutritious and healthy because their recipes are as simple as making solution of water and juice powder.

It is okay to enjoy the street food once in a blue moon because this also counts in perks of life.

Annoying wall chalking Tehniat Khan

      ANNOYING WALL CHALKING

“Deemak ka mukamal khatama”, “National training fashion colleges”, “Super kote Paints”, “Humsafar marriage bureau”, “The hope school admissions are open hurry up”… these are some of the advertisements that are chalked on walls.

“Dear stupid advertisements stop destroying our walls, none of our walls want chalking on them like this. Sincerely, Walls”

As we all knew that advertisements are necessary for running any kind of business to increase their popularity in markets as well as in public peoples. But why wall chalking, is this what’s make you happy? No it’s not! Advertisements are necessary to promote its value; but where it’s mentioned that wall chalking is necessary? If it isn’t necessary so why are you destroying the walls.

Near my area, I searched around for some walls that how people are using walls for their purpose. Amazing! that I found all of them wall chalked. Most of them were chalked with advertisements related to beauty salons, homeopathic medicines clinic, marriage bureau’s, including the political events and much more. Doing such work is destroying the beauty of walls it’s not even attracting people towards it. Even though our most popular networks as “Zong sab keh do” and “Telenor talk shawk” were painted on walls with their packages to promote their service. It’s so embracing for the publicity of your products, you are finishing the entire beauty of the walls which may represent your country somehow; even it is finishing the beauty of your country too.

Since we started watching television, we glanced so many advertisements day by day even on daily basis we are able to view a new one. For increasing the value of your product or letting others know that a new item has been launched television is enough for it neither walls. There is no need for making the walls dirty. Perhaps, the majority is doing the same. Besides this, I could find some sentences written, like place is empty for rent please contact, did we finished all the states agencies, who hires the costumers for renting houses or shops or even selling them further?

“Wall chalking is an illegal exploitation of private property which ruins the aesthetics of the city”. This is giving a very ugly look to the city.

In other words, street walls are considered as the source of beauty, this beauty is vanishing, this system is usually blamed for such cheap marketing tactics but it is in fact, somehow we peoples are responsible for it. By seeing these wall chalking of different parties, seller of various products, approximately each and every wall seems like those pages of the books which are having negative aspect on our society.

While searching me had a conversation with few people around, most of them were against it. They all wanted them to be removed. On the way, I saw a painter who was painting something on the wall; I did like to question him that why is he doing it so? The first answer for him was money, when I asked him again so he told that we do paint such things so that people may get attracted to it and could buy their product.

Amazing, that answer just annoyed me. Somehow it can be stated that these people are not in a will to stop this wall chalking, received the same answer again none of them cares.

Likewise, we all should think about this issue seriously and should take certain steps to solve this problem which can save the beauty and prestige of these walls and this is our first and for-most duty. This is not only the duty of our country's authorities but of all nation. Because they represent the country Pakistan and we have to take it on the peak of success, this could only be possible when we stop chalking on walls so that it may not annoy the people, the beauty of our country, city and homes.

Attractions of Hyderabad

Feature by: Fatima Mustafa

Love of homeland is a natural thing. If we love our country we should  also love our city. All the cities of Pakistan are beautiful and have their own identity. Likewise Hyderabad is the city of Sindh Province  , it has its own identity and history behind the name. Before the creation of Pakistan it was called as "Paris of India". Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro founded Pakistan in 1768 . Its old name was Neroon Kot. Later Kalhoro family changed the name  as "Hyderabad" on the name of Hazrat Ali (R.A). Hyderabad city is built on three Hillocks over each other. The city is multi Ethnic and has mix of languages like Sindhi, Urdu speaking Muhajir , Pashtun , Punjabi, Balochi etc.
Muhajir live mostly in Latifabad and mostly  Sindhi lives in Qasimabad.

Hyderabad is important commercially because of its industrial products like textile, cement, sugar etc.
Handicrafts is also famous in Hyderabad city . Hyderabad is also famous for the production of glass bangles which export all our the country , which are cheap in price. Hyderabad is famous for agriculture including Rice, Millets, Jute etc.

HYDERABAD OLD ATTRACTION :

The old attraction of Hyderabad are old places like Pakko Killo which is known as Hyderabad Fort and other Kacha Kila which is called as Weak Fort , Tombs of Talpur (Cubbas) Hirabad,  Rani Bagh Old Zoo was named because of Queen of Victoria England , Hussainabad Park, Goll Building in town which is exactly Circular, Thandi Sarak which  is said that here wind pressure is high. There is an also old museum named as Sindh Meseum with old and tradational Civilization,  Resham Gali which is also known as oldest Bazar of Hyderabad , Tower market which is used as shopping for local peoples , Cloth Market where used clothes are sales , Chotki Ghitti these all are said to be old attractions . There is also a stadium for cricket and hockey  known as Niaz Stadium, and Hockey Stadium.

Hyderabad is booming fast like all other cities of Pakistan. Hyderabad has hot and humid climate and cools and breezy nights . Nowdays City is going through great moderization programs. New flyovers , pedistrain, bridges , new bus triminals , shopping malls , five star hotels like  Royal Taj , Lalqilla, DeGravity,Lamoosh ,Rooftop ,BBQ Tonight , Bombay  Bakery and Fast and Italian restaurants like Mirchi 360, Subway, Pizza Hut, Pizza Track , Snoopy , Garrison , all are now called modern attractions of Hyderabad because  you can see lot of croud over these places daily. People use to go and buy many households items easily from new Malls like Max Bachat, Dawood Mall, Baig Mart etc.  All major foreign banks and foreign fast food chain restaurants and all the brands of shopping have opened up their branches in Hyderabad due to increased industrial, economic, and commercial activity in the city. Hyderabad is a peaceful town where people are generous, where it is must to spend a portion of the day with friends and where the evening are cool throughout the year.

In my point of view Hyderabad need to  be develop further as like other well developed cities where tourist come and use to enjoy.
