         University of Sindh is situated in Jamshoro on the right bank of river Indus and was shifted from Hyderabad in 1955 and was named after Allama Imdad Ali Imam Ali Kazi, former vice chancellor of the university.
       The University has two main campuses.
 1. Allama I.I kazi Campus, Jamshoro, which is named after the former Vice Chancellor of the University.
 2. Elsa Kazi Campus, Hyderabad, which is named after the late German wife of Allama I.I Kazi.
         Department of psychology is situated in Allama I.I kazi campus Jamshoro. It is settled on the second floor of arts faculty. In the beginning it was a combine department with philosophy and the head of that department was late K.A. Hameed in 1953. At that time they had only structural staff. In 1958 Department of psychology separated from the department of philosophy and appeared as an independent department. Mrs. Dr. Rafia Hassan assigned as its first chairperson in 1963.
       Classes of B.A (Hons.) were introduced in 1962; award of B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees began in 1969. The department has introduced BS 4 year program from 2006 and M.Phil program in 2000. Masters in psychology is 2 years course in which the curriculum is specifically designed to introduce students to theories of psychology, procedures and practices in the fields of child psychology, clinical psychology, counseling and guidance, educational psychology and Human Resource Management. It also enables the students to become proficient in psychological testing and measurement, in using the computer applications in psychology and conduct research.
          Course of BS 4-year degree program (Eight Semester) include subjects English, Islamic studies/Ethics/ Pakistan studies, Computer skills/ Mathematics/ Statistics, Basic concepts in psychology, Educational psychology, Laboratory work, Psycho pathology, Geography culture and civilization/General Mathematics, Sindhi/Urdu, Rural development/ General science/ Environmental science, Psychological testing and measurement, Developmental psychology, Historical and contemporary psychology, personality theories, Industrial psychology, Statistics in psychology, Social psychology, Organizational Behavior, Clinical psychology, Criminal Psychology, Applied Social psychology, Diagnosis and Assessment, Physiological psychology, Cross Cultural psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology and two minors in BS part I and BS part II. The department introduced courses with stress on cross cultural psychology at Honors and Postgraduate levels in 1972.
         From 1953 till now many students have been the part of this department, among all the students some prominent personalities who are serving the humanity are Dr. Nageena Parveen Dean Faculty of Social Sciences University of sindh Jamshoro, Nazar Ahmed Soomro did M.Sc in psychology from university of sindh, MS in psychology from University of Pennsylvania, America and Ph.D from London university. He was one of best psychologists of Pakistan of his time and was a brilliant personality too. Unfortunately he died of cancer on the same year when he was about to complet his Ph.D., Ayesha Soomro member of Federal Public Service Commission, Dr. Fatima Imam Professor in Urdu University and many more.
          The department of psychology comprises on three classes, a laboratory, a computer lab and a library. Total strength of students in 2016 is 100. Senior faculty includes Dr. Nageena Parveen (professor and Chairperson), Dr. Irfana Shah (Incharge chairperson and Asstt Professor), Farhat Jokhio ( Asstt. Professor), Muneeza Malik( Asstt. Professor) and Shahana Mumtaz (Asstt. Professor).  Other faculty members are Marvi Panwhar (lecturer), Sheeraz Ilyas Shaikh (lecturer), Fozia Siddiqui (lecturer), Lubna Ahmed Soomro (lecturer), Meroona Gopang (lecturer) and Parvasha Memon (lecturer).
